National Manufacturing Week 2008

National Manufacturing Week (NMW), an annual integrated manufacturing exhibition in Australia returned to the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour 27-30 May 2008. Covering all major aspects of the manufacturing sector, this significant event represented the perfect platform for Loctite to exhibit its specialised adhesives and sealants product range, so as to perpetuate market awareness.

The four-day exhibition reinforced how Loctite has enabled industry to increase production efficiency whilst reducing manufacturing and maintenance costs. The ongoing commitment to provide technical support and end user training ensures that the correct and value-added solution is selected for each application.

Attracting over 12,400 visitors, NMW is considered a ‘one-stop show’ that brings together market leaders from a wide selection of national and international manufacturing communities. Overall, there was a good mix of visitors from top level management across to shop floor management personnel, i.e. decision makers on new purchases. Senior company management and owners made up 23.3% of trade visitors, demonstrating the value and purchasing power of the NMW 2008 audience.

Loctite’s New South Wales (NSW) State Manager, Roger Stevens commented ‘We encountered many people who already use our products and lots of enquiries on new applications. You have to be at NMW – we get months of work out of it, and it gets our foot into the engineering fraternity.’
With a total of 78% of the visitors from NSW, Roger and his sales team are now following up on over 130 quality leads taken from the show. These typically included; Application, MRO Workshop, Frekote and Composite type leads. Ninety percent of the application leads were for bonding for both structural and instant type adhesives.

Loctite Engineering Solutions Vehicle (ESV) was also featured at the show. It was located in a great position next to the Loctite stand, a showstopper which helped attract a range of quality visitors. Live demonstrations were conducted inside the vehicle to communicate the versatility and benefits of the Loctite products. In particular, the Anaerobic Thread Treatment Sticks gained the attention of the audience. The ease of application of these products was easily communicated across to participants especially when they had hands-on experience.

Planning has already begun for National Manufacturing Week 2009 which will be held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre from May 12-15. The Loctite Marketing team are working on creating some new interactive displays to increase visitor participation. Charles Vint, Loctite’s Marketing Manager commented, ‘It is imperative that Loctite’s stand provides an environment that encourages interaction with our products, to really touch and use them and get comfortable with the different technologies that are available.’
